  Campbell Mesa Trail Head

Special Event - All Ages

Join AZ Watchable Wildlife Experience for an exciting morning in the wild as we explore the fascinating world of Gunnison’s prairie dogs. This FREE event, hosted by AWWE and Habitat Harmony, offers a unique opportunity to observe these incredible creatures (and maybe even their pups!) in their natural habitat. Learn about the important role prairie dogs play in the ecosystem and discover how they benefit the surrounding environment. Our knowledgeable guide from Habitat Harmony will share insights into prairie dog behavior, conservation, and the ways we can help protect them. Please do not bring your household dogs! The Campbell Mesa trail system is located off Forest Road 303, commonly called Old Walnut Canyon Rd. Take the Country Club exit from Interstate 40, Route 66 and North Hwy 89, one mile and turn left onto Old Walnut Canyon Rd; turn left. In approximately one mile you'll see the sign “Campbell Mesa Recreation Access” on the left.
